Quotes and booking
Every price shown on this site is a starting price for the whole vehicle — one private 4x4 carrying up to 4 people — and is not a per-person rate. Two travellers and a party of 4 pay the same figure for the same tour.
Because they are starting prices, they are indicative and not binding. What you finally pay depends on your dates, the accommodation you choose and the final itinerary, and it is confirmed in writing when we quote you. Nothing on this site constitutes an offer capable of acceptance until we have sent you that written quote.
A booking exists when we have confirmed your dates in writing and received the deposit. Until then nothing is held and nothing is owed.
Deposit and payment
We ask for a deposit to confirm a booking, with the balance payable at the start of the tour in cash (euros or dirhams) or as otherwise agreed in writing. The exact deposit amount is stated in your quote.
Changes and cancellation
By you. Tell us as early as you can. Because our tours are private, small changes to dates, pace or route are usually free. Cancellation terms are set out in your quote; deposits cover commitments we have already made on your behalf to camps and hotels.
By us. We will only cancel for reasons outside our control — severe weather, road closures, civil disruption, or circumstances that would make the trip unsafe. In that case we will offer alternative dates, an alternative itinerary, or a refund of what you have paid us.
Itinerary changes on the road. Weather, road conditions and local events can make a planned stop impossible. Your driver-guide will discuss alternatives with you at the time. Where a substitution is necessary we aim for something of equivalent value.
What is included
Each tour page lists what its price includes and excludes, and your written quote takes precedence over both. As a general rule the price covers the private vehicle, fuel, tolls, your driver-guide, the accommodation stated, and the meals stated. It does not cover flights, travel insurance, most lunches, drinks, monument entrance fees, optional local guides, or tips.
Insurance
You must hold travel insurance covering medical treatment, repatriation, cancellation and your belongings for the whole of your trip. We do not provide it and we cannot sell it to you. Please make sure your policy covers camel riding and any optional activity you intend to do.
Your responsibilities
Valid passports, visas and any required vaccinations are your responsibility. Please tell us at the time of booking about medical conditions, mobility limitations, allergies or dietary requirements that affect how we plan the trip — several of our routes involve long drives and remote overnight stops, and we would rather adapt than improvise.
Seat belts are to be worn. Our driver-guides may decline to continue if a guest's behaviour puts anyone at risk.
Liability
We take reasonable care in selecting the hotels, camps and suppliers we use, and we are responsible for the parts of the service we provide directly. We are not liable for loss, injury or expense arising from events outside our reasonable control, nor for the acts of third parties you engage independently.
Complaints
Tell your driver-guide at the time if something is wrong. Most problems can be fixed on the spot and cannot be fixed afterwards. If it is not resolved, write to moroccodesertexpedition@gmail.com within 28 days of returning and we will respond.
Governing law
These conditions are governed by Moroccan law, and the courts of Marrakech have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
